- Born in 1958 in France, Catherine Le Moal, hasn't stopped putting in practice her vision of the world trough different abilities which have been inspired by all the muses. Dance, choregraphy
, cinema, drawing, sculpture, costum's creation for different shows, are her everday life until her arrival in the south of France, at Sète more specifically, wher she has been living for about
fifteen years .
- Her settlement into that city which has always been able to mix arts of all kind, has been so revealing for her . So she decided then to spend her time and concentrate all her talents
for sculpture and painting above all .
- After spending one year at the "Beaux Arts" in Sète, quickly encouraged and reworded by her peers, she has come on a great deal to a very personal work . As she says : " my
ambition is to catch a movment, an expression , I have to freeze the magic moment where body and spirit express themselves and to trigger emotion that brings life again .
- The color is quickly fading away to leave place to ochres and greys, faded white and black. The originality of her work is going to be renforced by the creativity of this artist who
wants the format to be completely part of the artwork . Her technique of the preparation of the format, the " Brownpaper attitude" as she defines it herself, surprises all the observers.
Sticking, creasing, ripping and enclosing ...the brownpaper, resistant wrapping paper has to follow her rules .
Ink and acrylics slip between the folds of the transformed brown paper in order to give to her characters an expression full of emotion that is brought this creased looks . The
colour of the background is part of the organization of the artwork and becomes form that way .
Now colors from Oceania, Asia, Caraibe where she has been living.
